Pointing out the clear case of conflict of interest, Gill has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to launch a immediate probe into affairs of Hockey India.
Gill writes “Arun Jaitley being the advisor of Hockey India League having no hockey connection whatsoever have got his daughter appointed on the Legal Committee of Hockey India League and reportedly paid huge sums. Jaitely being a very senior minister of the Government should either resign as a Minister or from the Advisory Board of the Hockey India League.”
Gill further accused the Hockey India President Narinder Batra of financial irregularities that need to be investigated by Kejrwal as top priority.
Jaitley has earlier sued six people including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for Rs 10 crore in a defamation suit for their comments that the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had seen corruption when it was under Jaitley. The suit did not include BJP MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad who has been at the forefront alleging corruption in the DDCA under Jaitley's watch.
Meanwhile, hundreds of AAP workers led by several party MLAs protested near Jaitley's residence on Wednesday, demanding his resignation over the DDCA row, prompting police to resort to use of water cannons and minor lathicharge.
